Creator agreement
Last updated 31 August 2026
Independent contractor status
As a creator on the Clipped platform, you work with Clipped (Pty) Ltd as an independent contractor. This is explicitly not an employment relationship — you are not an employee of Clipped (Pty) Ltd or of any brand you make content for, and none of these terms should be read to create one.
You are responsible for your own tax affairs, including declaring and paying any tax owed on what you earn through the platform.
How payment works
You are paid per 1,000 verified views, at the rate shown on each campaign at the time you join it. The first payment on a video is calculated seven days after you post it.
After that first payment, the video keeps earning. On each payout cycle, we check its current view count and pay you the difference between what it has earned in total and what you have already been paid — this continues until the video reaches the campaign’s maximum payout per video.
Payouts run fortnightly. If your balance is under R150 at the time of a payout run, it rolls over to the next one rather than being paid out. Each campaign also sets a minimum view count a video must reach to qualify for payment at all — this is shown on the campaign before you join.
Conditions for payment
For a video to be paid, it must:
follow the campaign brief, carry the required call to action, carry the required advertising disclosure, be posted from a connected account, and stay live for the full counting period. A video that does not meet all of these is not paid for.
View verification
We read view counts directly from the relevant platform’s API — never from screenshots or self-reported numbers. Where a video shows unusual view growth, we may flag it and hold payment pending review.
Artificially inflating views on a submitted video is a breach of this agreement and forfeits payment on the affected videos.
Clawback
If we later determine that a payment was made on views that were artificial, or on a video that breached the campaign brief, we may recover that amount from your future earnings on the platform.
Content ownership and licence
You own the videos you create. By submitting a video to a campaign, you grant the brand a licence to use it to the extent set out in that specific campaign — which may include reuse in the brand’s own paid advertising, but only where the campaign states that reuse rights apply.
Where reuse rights apply to a campaign you join, you agree to supply the original video file to the brand on request.
Advertising disclosure
You must disclose paid content as required by South African advertising rules. This is your own legal obligation as a creator, independent of it also being a platform rule — a video without the required disclosure is not paid for.
Strikes and suspension
Breaching a campaign brief, a platform rule, or this agreement results in a strike on your account. Strikes expire automatically after 90 days. If you accumulate three active strikes at the same time, your account is suspended.
Termination
Either you or Clipped (Pty) Ltd may end this agreement at any time. Ending it does not affect earnings you have already accrued on videos submitted before termination — those are still paid out according to the terms above, as long as the videos continue to meet the conditions for payment.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law of South Africa.
